Chestnuthill hears concerns over property damage

The Chestnuthill Supervisors heard last week from a resident whose property was damaged by the township road crew.

Jessica Trader, who lives on 175 Deer Trail Drive, addressed the supervisors about the lack of communication on the repair of her driveway skirt that was damaged last year when the road department was working on the road, getting it ready to repave.

“Mr. Scheller, (Dave Scheller, roadmaster) did contact me by phone last year and advised me by phone that the damage was put into the bid for the pavement,” she said.

Trader also said she talked with Ryan Schlogl in the road department and he told her a bid was won by Hanson Aggregates and it would be completed by September.

Her concern is right now the water is running off the road and running directly onto her property at all angles and also on the property of neighbor Jen Andrews.

“So why I am here tonight is to find out who is going to be regrading the shoulder of the road. What are the repairs that’s going to be done to stop the problem before Hanson Aggregate comes out and paves the road,” Trader said.

In the beginning of April, Scheller had told her that it would take two to three weeks for the township to repair the shoulder.

“It is already the beginning of June, and I can’t get an answer,” Trader said.

“The only answer I can give you tonight is that if we tore up your driveway we will fix it. Other than that we need to look at it. Dave may already have in his head already and he is waiting for Hanson to come,” said Supervisors’ Chairman Chuck Gould.

It was decided that Chris McDermott, township engineer, would revisit Trader’s property and would get back to her in a timely manner.
