State police at Lehighton reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6:11 a.m. on May 25 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Amanda C. Mooney, 29, of Lehighton, was driving a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas northbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She attempted to avoid the animal but could not and the front of the vehicle struck the deer.
Mooney was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.
• A two-vehicle crash occurred on May 25 at 3:55 p.m. along Hahns Dairy Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Dennis R. Kibler, 35, of Lehighton, driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat, and Scott R. Fisher, 53, of Palmerton, driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue, were both westbound when Fisher stopped at a stop sign waiting to turn onto Forest Inn Road. The front of the Passat struck the rear of the Rogue, troopers said.
Troopers said Kibler left the scene without providing information to Fisher. He was later identified and cited for accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property.
No injuries were reported.
• A driver is facing a driving under the influence charge following a crash.
Troopers said Dakota R. Flyte, 24, of Wind Gap, was driving a 2011 Mazda 6 southbound on Route 248 (Lehigh Drive) in East Penn Township, Carbon County, behind a Chevrolet Impala. Flyte attempted to change lanes and struck the Impala on the right rear quarter panel. After impact the Mazda began to spin around the Impala and then struck a guide rail on the south side of the road. The driver of the Impala then fled the scene.
Flyte suffered an injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The police report indicates Flyte was driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. The other driver was never located.
