A longtime car wash in Lehighton is under new ownership.

After several decades in business, Fedor’s Carwash at 59 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive E. will no longer be owned by Gary and Sandi Fedor.

The couple, who reside in Franklin Township, announced in April they had agreed to sell the car wash. The car wash is now owned by Jonathan Ammary.

This week, Fedor’s Car Wash expressed its appreciation on its Facebook page.

“We cannot thank all of our customers over the last 36 years enough for your support, patronage, and truly being like family to all of us,” the post reads. “You have watched our business grow, watched our children grow up, and now are watching our grandchildren grow up too.”

However, the post continued “it is time for us to move on to the next chapter in our lives, and with that comes the selling of Fedor’s Carwash.”

“It is a very bittersweet thing to write this post,” the post says. “We will miss seeing all of your smiling faces, washing your cars, and making sure you have that car wash to go to.”

The post stated that the car wash will remain as such, and has merely switched owners and will get a few upgrades.

“Again, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support over the last 36 years,” the post reads. “We are truly blessed to have you all as part of our Fedor’s Carwash.”

In April, the couple said the business was sold to someone local, and the full service automatic car wash with three bays would remain.

Gary said they bought the car wash in 1986, and did a complete remodeling in 1993.

Customers were able to see Gary one last time on Wednesday at the car wash.

By 11 a.m., he said about 25 to 30 vehicles had come through the car wash.

As he gave the vehicles that came through one last good cleaning, Gary couldn’t help but get emotional.

“It’s going to be hard,” Gary said. “It’s just hard after all these years.”
