State police at Frackville reported on the following incidents:
• On May 13 at 10:14 p.m. troopers responded to the Walmart store in Rush Township. Troopers said Roderych Matos, 28, of McAdoo, was observed by store security ringing items at the self checkout. He then proceeded past all final points of sale and was apprehended by an employee as he attempted to leave the store.
The items taken were valued at $112.84. Matos was charged with retail theft.
• On May 16 at 1:27 p.m. a 44-year-old woman from Strawberry Lane in Union Township (Ringtown), reported her son’s ex-girlfriend, Helene Merwine, 21, of Pine Grove, arrived at her residence to take custody of the son the suspect and the victim’s son had together. At that time a verbal altercation ensued. Merwine then proceeded to smash out a camper window, damage a kitchen door window and frame, attempt to gain entry to the home via a rear window and “smack” the victim in the face before fleeing the scene.
Troopers said Merwine was later located and taken into custody. She was charged with a felony 3 count of criminal trespass, misdemeanor 3 count of criminal mischief and a summary offense of harassment.
She was arraigned before a district judge and released on $20,000 unsecured bail.
