Ross Twp. announces musician for June 26 concert

Musician Dave LaBar will begin Ross Township’s summer concert series in the park this month.

“He will perform songs from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s on Sunday, June 26,” said James Zahoroiko, chairman of the Ross Township supervisors, during their monthly meeting Monday.

The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The township park, located next the municipal building at 250 Anchorage Road, has a pavilion, playground, walking trail and a memorial.

The township has an act lined up for August’s concert, but still needs one for July.

“We are also looking for a food truck to come to the concerts. Attendees may bring their own snacks and lawn chairs,” Zahoroiko said.

Interested food truck vendors or bands may contact the township at 570-992-4990.

• The Ross Township Historical Society invited the supervisors to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony during an open house on Oct. 1. This past weekend, they purchased antique display cases and chairs for the museum, which has received other recent upgrades. It is located in the annex building next door to the township office. There is an ongoing fundraiser, in which members of the community can donate $10 to become a Friend of the Ross Township Historical Society and have their name on a plaque inside the building.

• The road crew will resume their summer schedule of working four 10-hour days next week. They will continue this schedule until school resumes at the end of August.
