A Banks Township man on Thursday was named to head the Carbon County Office of Planning and Development. The hiring came on a 2-1 vote.

Frederick P. Osifat of Tresckow will begin his duties on June 21 at a salary of $30,000. He succeeds James Carroll, who resigned the position to accept a job in the private sector.

Commissioners Dean D.W. DeLong and John D. Mogilski voted in favor of Osifat’s hiring while Commissioner Thomas C. Gerhard voted against the move.
