Rush supervisors want input on Lincoln Park

The Rush Township supervisors are considering improvements to Lincoln Park in the village Hometown.

“We would like to hear from the public to see if there is an interest,” Supervisor Robert Leibensperger said.

He envisions forming a committee of residents to discuss the park’s future. If there’s an interest, the township can apply for funding.

Located at the end of Lincoln Street, it has a basketball court, benches and a shaded area. Leibensperger said there is potential for more development.

“People might want a playground there and if so, we want their input as to the type of equipment they would want,” he noted.

Anyone interested in sharing opinions or joining a committee should call the Rush Township Municipal building at 570-668-2938 and leave a message for Leibensperger.

There’s a chance that the township can secure a grant for improvements.

Earlier this year, the township received a Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Parks and Recreation grant for $76,800 for the Ryan Memorial Park. It will be used to resurface the tennis courts, add basketball nets and add handicapped parking.

Thanks to other DCNR grants, Miller Park will get a new pavilion and Grier City Park will get a new pavilion and new playground equipment.
