Jim Thorpe Borough’s zoning hearing board will have a new solicitor the next time it convenes.
Borough Manager Maureen Sterner said Thursday night that attorney Kim Roberti tendered his resignation to the board, which renders decisions on specific types of land use appeals and applications, “due to the volume of work on its plate.”
“The zoning hearing board received letters of interest from several attorneys and, at its last meeting, voted to appoint Matthew Schnell,” Sterner said.
Borough Council, she said, has to appoint Schnell’s rate before the appointment becomes official. That item will be on the agenda when council meets Thursday night.
“The proposed rate is $125 per hour, which will not exceed what the previous rate was and may even be lower than the previous rate,” Sterner said.
