9 guns, $300 in change, stolen in Penn Forest

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the theft of firearms from a Carbon County residence.

Troopers said on May 24 at 3:27 p.m. they responded to a residence along Towamensing Trail, in Penn Forest Township.

On scene a 64-year-old man from Albrightsville reported nine firearms were removed from his home.

He told officers he recently allowed a co-worker to stay in his home while he recovered from a motorcycle crash.

Upon returning home, and the co-worker moving out, he discovered the key to his gun safe was missing.

He forcibly opened the gun case and discovered firearms were missing. Also taken was about $300 in change.

All the firearms were entered into NCIC as stolen.

Total value of the missing guns is $4,700.
