State police at lehighton

Traffic stops made by state police at the Lehighton resulted in the following charges:

• The driver of a 2005 GMC Sierra who was stopped at 10:18 a.m. May 30 at the intersection of Pohopoco Drive and Pine Run Road in Towamensing Township was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

• The operator of a vehicle stopped at 235 Route 209 North in Hamilton Township was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• A 37-year-old woman from Palmerton was charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was stopped while driving a vehicle on Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township at 4:37 p.m. May 27. A passenger in the vehicle was also found to have an active warrant. Police took that person into custody.

• A woman from Lehighton was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was stopped while driving a 2012 Jeep Compass at 1:22 a.m. May 27 at the intersection of Route 248 and Interchange Road in Franklin Township.

• A Nesquehoning man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped at 1:22 a.m. May 27 at the intersection of Route 248 and Interchange Road in Franklin Township while driving a 2013 Subaru Outback.

• A Palmerton resident was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a stop at 3:32 a.m. May 28 at the intersection of Oak and Craig streets in Bowmanstown. He was driving a 2010 Ford Focus.

• A 45-year-old Philadelphia man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped while driving a 2015 Volkswagen Passat at 11:13 p.m. May 27 at the intersection of Interchange Road and Trachsville Drive in Polk Township.

Police did not release names in these instances.
