SCI inmate charged with having cellphone

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that on April 27, Tremec Jeffries, 46, an inmate at Federal Correctional Institute-Schuylkill in Minersville, possessed a cellphone, which is prohibited in prison.

The matter is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigative Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 1 year of imprisonment, a

term of probation following imprisonment and a fine.

According to court records, he is scheduled for release in 2028.
