May 27, 1961 - Palmerton’s Steve Kun and Lehighton’s Roy Semmel both turn in top-five finishes at the PIAA State Track and Field championships at Penn State’s University Park. Kun brings home a fifth-place finish in the broad jump, while Semmel ends in a tie for fifth place in the pole vault. Palmerton’s half-mile relay team also turns in a solid showing, finishing fifth. The team consists of Charlie Perich, Joe Visnosky, Willard Weaver and Mike Riska.
