A Nesquehoning fire company has a new fire chief.
On Wednesday, borough council accepted a letter from Jim Nardozzi of the New Columbus Fire Company announcing that he has stepped down as fire chief.
Tyler Schlier, a longtime volunteer firefighter, has been named as the new chief.
Nardozzi had been the fire chief of New Columbus for over 20 years, and has stepped back, but will remain an active volunteer.
In addition, Richard Staneck has been named the assistant chief for the department.
In other fire matters, council said that the townwide burn ban has expired and would not be renewed at this time, but reminds residents to be vigilant since conditions could change quickly.
