Local Roundup: Results from May 26

The Carbon Monarchs had a successful start to their season by downing Emmaus on Thursday.

Elsewhere, the Berlinsville Braves picked up a win over the Northampton Giants.

Ian Rarick had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs to help the Carbon Monarchs gain a 7-1 victory over Emmaus in their Lehigh Valley Legion season opener.

Carbon batted around in the fourth inning, scoring six times, to break open a close game.

Rarick had an RBI single in the frame, while Randy Bongiorno and Jack Edwards both had run-scoring doubles. Lawrence Baldassano and Matt Craigie also contributed RBI hits in the uprising.

Michael Yeakel and Talan Sensinger combined to shut down the Emmaus offense. Yeakel allowed two hits and an unearned run in four innings, with Sensinger tossing three scoreless frames and striking out seven.

Baldassano and Edwards both finished with two hits.

Berlinsville-Northampton

Noah Snisky had three hits, one a double, to help the Berlinsville Braves earn a 9-7 victory over the Northampton Giants.

The Jim Thorpe graduate also scored two runs and had a stolen base as Berlinsville (1-2) posted its first win of the season.

Lehighton alum Logan Wentz reached base three times on a double and two hits by pitches. He also scored a run and knocked in one. Northern Lehigh product Cody Krupa chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

The Braves received four hits, including a two-run homer, from Shane Fillman, while Austin Strunk also connected for a two-run blast.

For the Giants, now 1-2, Lehighton grad Tyler Harris went 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBIs. Northampton also received a hit, run and RBI from former Northwestern standout Nate Kester.
