Lehighton’s 2022 Poppy Queen selected

Joselyn Montefour, daughter of Vincent and Tiffany Montefour of Jim Thorpe, has been selected to serve as the 2022 Poppy Queen of the Shoemaker-Haydt American Legion Post 314 Auxiliary, Lehighton.

Announcement of the queen was made by LaRue Fritz, poppy chairwoman, president of the Unit 314 Auxiliary and chairwoman for the council of auxiliaries that includes Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties.

Joselyn is a fifth-grade student at the L.B. Morris Elementary School, Jim Thorpe, and a junior member of the Post 314 Auxiliary Unit. She is an avid outdoorsperson who enjoys hunting and fishing. She also competes on the Olympian Booster Club’s competition cheer team.

She will be helping the auxiliary to raise funds for veterans by collecting donations for poppies.
