Baer Memorial Swimming Pool to open Saturday

Baer Memorial Swimming Pool in Lehighton is set to open this Saturday just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Regular hours will be from noon to 6:45 p.m. daily, except for May 31 to June 4, when hours will be 3-7 p.m. since school is still in session.

Starting June 6, the pool will be open regular hours from noon to 6:45 p.m., according to borough recreation director Tom Evans.

Evans said pool memberships are available for Carbon County residents. He said the daily rate for Carbon County residents is $7 for adults, and $5 for children. The daily rate for noncounty residents is $15 for adults and $10 for children.

He said swim lessons are offered with the pool membership, and added they also give private lessons. Evening lessons start June 13, with morning lessons starting June 23.

Evans said the pool will keep its daily attendance at 400 patrons.

“As always, I would like to thank the Lehighton Area Pool Pals, and all the awesome people that donated money to purchase new picnic tables for the new pavilion,” Evans said. “And, lastly, a big thank you to Blocker Collision Center for all the volunteer work they did painting all of our water features last year, and painting the stairway railings for our water slide, with a total of $15,000 saving, a tremendous saving for the pool.”
