Local Roundup: Results from May 24-25

Franklin Township rolled past Catasauqua in a Lehigh Valley Connie Mack league contest on Wednesday.

A big offensive effort allowed Franklin Township to cruise to a 16-4 victory over Catasauqua.

Carter Birnbaum had three hits and knocked in three runs for the winners, while Stephen Balak finished the contest with three doubles and a run.

Jon Light was on base five times, with two hits and three walks, and scored four runs. Franklin (2-1) also received two hits and three runs from Adam Bastone, while Talen Sensinger added a pair of hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Also contributing offensively were Cameron Gable (one hit, three runs, two RBIs) and Aiden Albert (one hit, three RBIs).

Birnbaum pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing no hits while striking out seven. Bastone also tossed a perfect frame.

Berlinsville-Orioles

The Berlinsville Braves tried to rally from a three-run deficit in the seventh inning, but their bid fell short as they dropped a 3-1 decision on Tuesday.

Owen Fischel singled home Austin Mueller in the final frame, and the Braves (0-2) loaded the bases with one out but failed to score as winning pitcher Jake Meyers got out of the jam.

Pleasant Valley graduate Dakota George suffered the loss, allowing three runs in three innings. The Braves also received a hit and two stolen bases from Shane Fillman.

For the winners, AJ Brosius had two hits and an RBI. Meyers went the distance on the mound and finished with 10 strikeouts.
