Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday:
• Reappointed Diane Luedtke of Jim Thorpe, Kathleen Schwick of Lehighton and David F. McAndrew Jr. of Summit Hill to three-year terms on the Children and Youth Advisory Board. The terms end May 1, 2025.
• Approved the submission of an application to the Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool for the 2021-2022 Loss Prevention Grant to purchase 11 ballistic vests for the correctional facility staff when transporting inmates outside the facility. The total cost is $7,524 plus shipping.
• Approved 2-1 an agreement with Boyle Construction Management of Allentown to provide professional construction management services for the Carbon County 525 Iron St., Lehighton project. The cost is $239,000 plus time and materials to Boyle Construction; $48,400 to MKSD Architects; and $25,700 to Snyder Hoffman Associates. Commissioner Chris Lukasevich cast the sole no vote. He spoke about an upcoming zoning hearing as a reason to wait on this contract.

• Resignations: Mark A. Cuth of Danielsville, TANF and WIOA coordinator, effective May 31; Patrick W. Beers of Jim Thorpe, corrections officer, effective April 22; and Danielle O. Keith-Alexandre of Lehighton, caseworker II, Children and Youth, effective May 6.
• Employment separations: Douglas P. Budziak of Nesquehoning, Donald J. Tucker of Brodheadsville and Gregory C. White of Saylorsburg, corrections officers, effective May 18.
• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Jared M. Soto of Lansford, social worker/case manager, public defender’s office, effective May 23.
• Change of status: Renee E. DeHaven of Lehighton, from aging case aide II to aging care manager I, Area Agency on Aging, effective May 30.
