Several new faces will greet Lehighton Area School District students when the 2022-23 school year opens in the fall.
Lehighton’s board of directors made the following hires Monday night:
• Christian Ambrose, high school business education teacher, effective Sept. 1, 2022, with an annual salary of $43,000,
• Vanesa Rimbey, middle school physical education/health teacher, effective Sept. 1, 2022, with an annual salary of $45,000,

• Amber Williams, elementary teacher, effective Sept. 1, 2022, with an annual salary of $43,000.
Acting Superintendent Jack Corby commended the district’s administration for acting swiftly to secure quality candidates.
“They were on top of it and didn’t let things go and drag out,” Corby said.
“Not only were we able to fill the positions, but we were able to do it with really good people. We didn’t lose out on these quality candidates and our students will benefit because of the proactive measures taken.”
Lehighton Area Elementary Center Principal Aaron Sebelin said Williams is no stranger to the district.
“(Amber) has been a paraprofessional with the district for 13 years and has put in a lot of hard work here in Lehighton,” Sebelin said.
Rimbey, likewise, is also already a familiar face for many Lehighton athletes.
“Vanesa is from Tamaqua and she is a field hockey and track coach here in the district,” Middle School Principal Steve Ebbert said.
“We’re very happy to have her joining us.”
The board also accepted the resignation Monday of Candy Kunkle, middle school cleaner, effective May 13, 2022.
