Schuylkill County Judge Charles M. Miller has handled the cases of people charged by local police.
Danielle Ann Dolly, 25, of Hokendauqua, Whitehall Township, was charged by West Penn Township Police Chief James E. Bonner with conspiracy to commit burglary; criminal trespass; two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property; and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Feb. 12, 2020.
Dolly pleaded guilty to criminal trespass, theft, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Judge Miller sentenced her to six to 23 months in jail; to pay $250 for a DNA sample to be taken; and to pay costs and fees on the trespass charge.
On the theft charge, the sentence was the same, to be served at the same time.
He sentenced her to two to 23 months on the unauthorized use charge, again to be served concurrently.
In a separate case, Dolly was charged by Bonner when he worked for the Coaldale Police Department with criminal trespass; possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia; and defiant trespass on May 5, 2020.
She pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance, and Miller sentenced her to 12 months on probation; to pay court costs and fees; and to submit a DNA sample for $250.
On the paraphernalia charge, he sentenced her to an additional 12 months on probation.
Marcos Anthony Mesen, 28, of Whitehall, was charged by Coaldale Police Officer Matthew O. Jungbaer with driving under the influence, first offense; driving under the influence of a controlled substance - Schedule 2 or 3, first offense; driving under the influence of a controlled substance - metabolite, first offense; driving under the influence of combination of alcohol/drugs, first offense on April 11, 2021.
He pleaded guilty to the charge of driving under the influence of combination of alcohol/drugs, and Miller sentenced him to 30 days to six months house arrest; fined him $1,000; pay court costs and fees; have his license suspended for 12 months; perform 10 hours of community service; enroll in and complete substance abuse treatment for one to three months; and continue mental health treatment.
The remaining charges were dropped.
Vera Marie Beckford, 45, of Tamaqua, was charged by Rush Township Police Officer Nicholas E. Gallese with theft of leased property and receiving stolen property on March 6, 2020.
Judge Miller terminated her participation in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program because she violated the terms.
He had accepted her into the program for 18 months on Nov. 19, 2020.
Miller ordered her to appear for a status conference at 1:30 p.m. July 21 before Judge Christina E. Hale.
