Food truck festival planned for Memorial Day weekend
A Panther Valley area fire company is hoping to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with food and fun for the community.
Diligence Fire Company of Summit Hill will host its first food truck festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 28 in Ludlow Park.
“We are hosting this event as a fundraiser for the fire company but also as a way to get the community together to have a good time,” said Becky Collura, a member of the volunteers organizing the event. “We think that people want to get out and do something because of being cooped up from COVID.
“Memorial Day weekend brings many people back to the area for the parade in Summit Hill on Monday, so we saw it as a perfect opportunity to get everyone together. It’s the kickoff to the summer.”
There will be several food trucks, including S&S Philly’s Famous Italian Ice; Paul & Charlie’s Italian Sausage; The Traveling Curbside Grill; Langan’s Patties; Atomic Hogs Pit BBQ & Catering and Grumpy’s BarBQue Roadhouse.
In addition, there will be a cornhole tournament at 11 a.m.; basket raffle and several craft vendors in the park.
Live music by Vinyl Persuasion will also take place from 3-6 p.m.
“This is a family friendly event, so there’s something for everyone,” Collura said. “We are hoping to make this an annual event and we look forward to seeing and meeting friends, old and new.”
To register for the cornhole tournament, teams should contact Kevin Matzen at 570-778-4792. There is a 30 team limit.
Basket raffle donations are still being accepted through May 26 with Collura or Jess Matzen.
