Dellicker congratulates Scheller on nomination

Congressional candidate Kevin Dellicker offered congratulations to his opponent, Lisa Scheller, after her victory in the Republican primary for the Seventh Congressional District.

The district includes all of Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties, and part of Monroe County.

“I truly hope Lisa Scheller’s campaign will contribute to a Republican wave that returns fiscal responsibility and limited government to Washington. We need it,” he said in a statement.

Scheller won Tuesday’s primary with 51.3 percent of the vote. The margin between her and Dellicker was 1,747 votes, with 67,011 total ballots cast.

In Carbon County, Dellicker had a 381 vote advantage.

Dellicker, a military veteran and business owner, said he wanted to prove a ‘normal guy’ could represent his neighbors in Washington.

Scheller, the chairman and president of Silberline Manufacturing Co. and a former Lehigh County Commissioner, thanked Dellicker and congratulated him on a well-run campaign.

Both candidates said they shared the goal of defeating incumbent U.S. Rep. Susan Wild, D-7th, who is seeking her third term.

Scheller said the turnout for the primary showed that Republicans are energized against Wild’s policies.

“It’s clear that families in the Lehigh Valley are fed up with the sky-high inflation Susan Wild and her progressive friends have given us,” she said.
