Sunday worship with Baptism and Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, please continue to wear a mask over the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. Coffeehouse fellowship follows completion of the worship in Luther Hall. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

Sunday Church School classes begins at 10:45 a.m. for students ages 3 through sixth grade. Face masks are strongly encouraged for the protection of those attending. Included during this time is Ascension-Day-theme ecofriendly balloon release “Jesus Goes Up with a Shout.” In addition, catechetical classes for students in seventh and eighth grades take place at this time. The final classes before the summer break are May 29.

Trinity Youth Group for students grades 7-12 meet Sunday, 5-7 p.m. Enjoy some food, and participate in seasonal activities with Vicar Sarah Moore, leader of the youth group. RSVP at smoore@uls.edu in advance. Include any food allergies or dietary restrictions in order to prepare an adequate amount and type of food. Follow them out on Instagram: TELCYOUTHGROUP. Please enter and exit at the door on the parking lot side marked “Youth Room.”

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

For those desiring to become a member at Trinity, please register by contacting the church office before Sunday’s session at 1 p.m. with Pastor Moore.

A 24-member bicycling team from the University of Illinois will be pedaling to Lehighton from Clinton, New Jersey on May 25. The Illini4000 are cycling across America, with a final destination of San Francisco. This marks the 14th year for the team documenting the American cancer experience, and raising funds for their designated cancer research and their list of beneficiaries supporting those affected with cancer. Please consider being in attendance to welcome and greet the team as they arrive between 4-6 p.m. at the Lehighton Outdoor Center on Lehigh Drive, Lehighton, before retiring for the evening at the church. Their next leg takes them to Milton, Pennsylvania.
