Schuylkill County Judge Christopher J. Hobbs has ruled on these local cases.

Jason Scott Dunbar, 40, of Palmerton, was charged by Tamaqua Borough Police Chief Michael J. Hobbs with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia on May 29, 2019.

He pleaded guilty, and Judge Christopher J. Hobbs sentenced Dunbar to nine to 24 months in the county jail, with credit for time served from May 29 to June 4, 2019; from Jan. 28, 2020 to March 28, 2020; from Dec. 7, 2021 to Dec. 9, 2021; and from Jan. 26, 2022 to April 29, 2022.

Hobbs also ordered Dunbar to obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any treatment recommendations, and pay court costs and fees.

On the remaining charges of possession of a controlled substance, Hobbs sentenced him to the same amount of jail time, to be served at the same time as the first charge.

On the paraphernalia charge, Hobbs sentenced him to serve from one to 12 months, also to be served concurrently.

Brian D. Nattress Jr., 45, of Tamaqua, was charged by Tamaqua Borough Police Officer Michael G. Weaver with driving under the influence, first offense; driving under the influence, highest rate of blood alcohol content (BAC 0.16+), first offense; and two counts of endangering the welfare of children on Jan, 7, 2021.

Judge Christopher J. Hobbs sentenced him on the DUI highest rate charge to five years of restrictive probation starting May 13.

Nattress will begin with 15 days on house arrest followed by 45 days on strict supervision, followed by four years and 10 months of probation.

Hobbs also fined Nattress $1,000; ordered him to pay court costs and fees; complete Alcohol Highway Safety School; complete one to three months of outpatient substance abuse treatment; have his license suspended for 18 months, and perform 100 hours of community service.

The remaining charges were dropped.

Arthur William Frye Jr., 28, of Barnesville, was charged by state Trooper Trent W. Karaman of the Frackville barracks with driving under the influence, highest rate of blood alcohol content (BAC .16+), first offense on Oct. 20, 2021.

Hobbs admitted him in to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for 12 months.

If he successfully completes the program, his record may be cleared.

Hobbs ordered Frye to pay court costs and fees; pay $500 to defray the costs of the program; have his license suspended for 60 days; complete Alcohol Highway Safety School; complete one to three months of outpatient substance abuse treatment, and perform 10 hours of community service.
