State police at Schuylkill Haven

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following cases:

Troopers said on March 22 at 7:04 p.m. they responded to BGs Value Market, Pleasant Valley Road in Pine Grove Township, for a theft report. As a result Felix Romeu, 39, of Cumbola, was charged with a felony count of access device fraud, retail theft and theft for utilizing a fraudulent paycheck at the market to steal over $800 worth of merchandise and cash.

Troopers said Romeu stole merchandise valued at $269.89 and cash totaling $597.23.

• On April 6 at 12:22 a.m. along Schwartz Valley Road in Washington Township, Christian Curry, 28, of Pottsville, and a 29-year-old woman from Schuylkill Haven, engaged in an argument that turned physical when Curry pushed the woman through a garage window and then slammed her arm in the house door.

He was arraigned on simple assault and related charges and committed to the county prison in Pottsville. Court records indicate Curry has since been bonded out of jail.

• Randy Williams, 66, of Pottsville, was stopped driving a 2009 Ford Focus on April 30 at 2:41 a.m. at Second and West Patterson streets in Saint Clair, for a traffic violation. He was subsequently arrested for DUI.

• On April 16 at 3:16 a.m. troopers responded to West Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township, for a argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The argument escalated to a physical altercation during which a 47-year-old man from Pottsville, who troopers declined to identify, pushed a 42-year-old woman from Pottsville, against various objects and began to restrict her airway.

The man was taken into custody and charged with strangulation and related offenses. He was arraigned before a district judge and released on $15,000 unsecured bail
