Man charged with passing fraudulent check

An Allentown man has been charged with passing a fraudulent check.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Zachary Andress of the Pennsylvania State Police, Lehighton barracks in the case against Adonis Morales:

On June 7, 2021, PSP Lehighton was contacted about a report of check fraud at AP Thermoforming in Palmerton.

Andress contacted Members 1st Credit Union Fraud Management and spoke with a member of the bank who provided him with the information to the account and said Morales, 23, attempted to deposit the check through a mobile deposit.

Members 1st provided Andress with the name and date of birth for Morales, 23, and confirmed that it was his account. The bank identified the check as fraudulent and stopped the payment.

Morales faces charges of forgery, receiving stolen property, and criminal use of communication facility.

He was released on his own recognizance, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 6 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
