Carbon paving project advances

Carbon County’s multi-parking lot paving project is moving along.

Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said that work on the lots at Mauch Chunk Lake Park is ongoing, and noted that work on the northernmost part of the county parking lot in Jim Thorpe has begun.

The county awarded a nearly $900,000 contract to Gaver Industries Inc., doing business as Barker & Barker Paving, of Bethlehem, to pave multiple lots owned by the county earlier this year.

These include the lots at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, the correctional facility and portions of the county parking lot and D&L Trail in the lot.

Gaver Industries bid $876,386.32, the lowest of six bids that were received.
