Wheel falls off Jeep, causes crash

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two-vehicle crash at 7:26 p.m. along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, on April 27.

Troopers said Michael R. Strohl, 25, of Slatington, was operating a 1996 Jeep Cherokee northbound when the front left wheel fell off and struck a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500 truck, owned by Roger L. Hahn, 76, of Palmerton, which was parked at 2020 Forest Inn Road. After the wheel fell off the Cherokee continued north for a distance coming to rest along the right shoulder.

No injuries were reported. The Jeep was towed and the Dodge had minor damages.

Troopers said Strohl was cited for operation of a vehicle without official certificate of inspection.
