A Lehigh County man was jailed on charges of attempted homicide and related counts following an incident that occurred on April 28.

State police reported on the date listed troopers responded to the 1500 block of South Krocks Road in Lower Macungie Township for a woman who had called 911 requesting assistance.

Upon arrival troopers observed a man, later identified as Stephen Lee Malarchik, 53, of Lower Macungie Township, attempting to leave the residence and a female victim stumbling out of the front door with severe numerous injuries.

The female was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Malarchik was taken into custody and charge with felony 1 counts of criminal attempt - homicide, aggravated assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; and misdemeanor 2 counts of simple assault and terroristic threats.

He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Allentown unable to post $1,000,000 bail.
