Palmerton business donates safety vests to Kids for the Community

A Palmerton-based Facebook group has some nifty new gear thanks to the generosity of a deep-rooted business.

Mayor Don Herrmann informed borough council on Thursday that Kids for the Community received safety vests.

Herrmann said Shea’s Hardware in Palmerton donated 14 vests to the organization.

He originally posted word of the donation on Palmerton Here and Now.

“Special thanks going out to Shea’s Hardware in Palmerton for their donation of safety vests to Kids for the Community Jennifer Merkel-Hollenbach,” Herrmann said. “This will provide safety when this great bunch of kids are out helping cleaning up our town.”

Contacted Monday afternoon, Bernie Shea, owner of Shea’s Hardware Inc., said the business was glad it could make the contribution.
