Kidder advertises zoning changes ahead of May 12 hearings

At Kidder Township ‘s monthly meeting on April 26, supervisors approved advertising public hearings about a zoning map change for 300 acres of Blue Ridge property along Route 940, and about a zoning amendment to accommodate solar power generation on a remote property located east of the Turnpike and south of Interstate 80.

The hearings are scheduled at 6 p.m. on May 12 for the 300 acres, and 6:30 p.m. for the solar change.

Meetings are held at the township building.

Also approved was the change on the Exeter warehouse project to nearly double the number parking spaces for employees. The new spaces would be on the north side of the building on the existing tarmac.

The new parking area cuts down on the number of truck bays that could be accessed on that side. The agreement includes a big increase in the amount of landscaping to be provided along Route 940.

Patrolman Ryan Kennedy submitted his resignation, effective April 20. Police chief Matthew Kuzma told supervisors that “coverage will stay the same,” and a replacement is being arranged. Officer Mason Moran will also soon return from his National Guard assignment.

Andrew Ray was approved to become the township’s second code officer. A uniform has been ordered.

The Land Development Improvement Agreement being worked out for the Richard Henry proposed warehouse was tabled.

During public participation, supervisors heard complaints about the condition of roads within Split Rock, mainly about the many potholes. A request was made for a centerline to be painted on Moseywood Road through Split Rock for safety reasons, especially for night driving.

Roads within Split Rock are private, so the township cannot help.

The Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company is looking for direction from supervisors on 64 pages of suggestions submitted about a month ago.

Chairman Thomas Bradley said supervisors have asked the Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company to add their comments, which have not come in yet.

LHVFC Fire Chief Ralph Lennon brought up the long hoped for dry hydrant at the end of Wood Street on Lake Harmony Estates’ property. The township will approach LHE’s board to get this approved. Parts for the new dry hydrant for the pond at Jack Frost National have arrived. The dry hydrant at Snow Ridge Village is soon to get installed as well.

Roadmaster supervisor Bruce Berger had a preconstruction meeting with the paving contractor for North Lake Drive. The project will include more milling than originally planned for, and possibly the removal of an old pipe.

The next meeting is Tuesday, May 24, at the township building beginning at 6:30.
