Blue Ridge Communications to increase broadband speeds May 1

Blue Ridge Communications has announced that it is increasing broadband speeds throughout its service area effective May 1.

“We are excited to continue to provide access to fast, reliable, and affordable internet. This speed increase is part of our team’s plan over a year in the making to continue to meet customer demand,” said Mark Masenheimer, vice president of Blue Ridge.

It is the second time in nine months that Blue Ridge has increased its internet speeds and the fifth time since 2017.

Effective May 1, Blue Ridge will offer the following internet speeds. Prices remain unchanged.

• Up to 1 GIG

• Up to 500 mbps increases to up to 600 mbps

• Up to 300 mbps increases to up to 500 mbps

• Up to 200 mbps increases to up to 400 mbps

• Up to 150 mbps increases to up to 300 mbps

• Up to 100 mbps increases to up to 200 mbps

• Up to 25 mbps increases to up to 50 mbps

Blue Ridge participates in the Affordable Care Program, a government program designed to help lower-income households get connected to internet service. ACP provides a monthly credit of up to $30 toward internet service for eligible families, and both new and existing Blue Ridge customers may qualify.
