Schuylkill County court

Schuylkill County judges have handed down sentences in the cases against four local people.

Bethann Neff, 34, of Lehighton, had her parole revoked after violating the terms.

Miller resentenced her to serve time in jail to a maximum date of Dec. 3, 2022, and to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommendations.

She was charged by Pottsville Police Officer Michael J. Messner with possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 29, 2018.

Paul David Weirich, 35, of Coaldale, was charged by borough Police Officer Ryan H. Oldt with possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia on Aug. 9, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. Judge James P. Goodman sentenced him to serve six to 12 months in jail, to pay court costs and fees. The paraphernalia charge was dropped.

In a second case, Oldt charged Weirich with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and harassment on June 7, 2019.

Goodman sentenced him to one to 12 months in jail, and to pay court costs and fees.

The disorderly conduct and harassment charges were dropped.

In a third case, Frackville State Trooper Joseph J. Aponick charged Weirich with four counts of retail theft on July 31, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to one count of retail theft. The others were dropped.

Goodman sentenced him to one to three years in state prison and to pay court costs and fees.

Jonathan E. Evanco, 28, of McAdoo, was charged by Kline Township Police Officer John D. Petrilla Jr. with possession of a controlled substance, theft from a motor vehicle, public drunkenness, and defiant trespass on Sept. 22, 2021.

He pleaded guilty to the controlled substance and public drunkenness charges.

On the controlled substance charge, Judge Miller sentenced him to 30 days to 12 months in jail; pay court costs and fees; undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommendations.

Miller fined Evanco $25 for public drunkenness.

The charges of theft and trespass were dropped.

In a separate case, Evanco was charged by McAdoo Police Officer Anthony S. Divirgilio with theft and receiving stolen property on Jan. 19.

He pleaded guilty to theft and was placed on 12 months of probation. Miller also ordered him to pay court costs and fees. The receiving charge was dropped.

Michael Ilie Steigelbauer, 27, of Hazleton, was charged by McAdoo Police Officer Frederick J. Lahovski Jr. with possession of a controlled substance, public drunkenness, and trespass on Sept, 8, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to the possession charge, and Miller sentenced him to three to 11½ months in jail, and to pay court costs and fees.

The charges of trespass and public drunkenness were dropped.

In a separate case, Steigelbauer was charged by McAdoo Police Officer William M. Curilla Jr. with theft, receiving stolen property, and loitering/prowling at night on Oct. 16, 2019.

He pleaded guilty to the charge of loitering. Miller sentenced him to 12 months on probation, and to pay court costs and fees.

The charges of theft and receiving stolen property were dropped.

In a third case, Curilla charged Steigelbauer with possession of a controlled substance and use/possession of drug paraphernalia on June 26, 2020.

He pleaded guilty to the possession charge, and Miller sentenced him to pay court costs and fees, and to serve three to 12 months in jail.
