Track and Field Roundup: Results from April 26

Lehighton and Northwestern both earned sweeps in track action on Tuesday.

The Indian boys and girls defeated Pine Grove, while the Tiger squads downed Bangor and Salisbury.

Lehighton-Pine Grove

Lehighton posted a sweep of Pine Grove in a Schuylkill League meet.

The Indian girls trimmed the Cardinals by a 72 1/2-68 1/2 score, while the boys registered an 85-56 victory.

Depth played a key role in the win by the Lehighton girls. Pine Grove took first in 12 of the 17 events, but the Indians outpointed their opponent by a 44 1/2-8 1/2 margin in second- and third-place finishes.

Taking individual firsts for Lehighton were Gianna Sube (1600), Anna Howland (3200), Megan Hauser (discus) and Haley Ginder and Brittney Bartasavage, who tied for the top spot in the high jump.

In the boys meet, the Indians swept the three relays and held a 25-2 advantage in the throwing events to earn the win.

Owen Serfass (800, 1600) picked up a pair of firsts for the Tribe, while other wins came from Brandon Hall (3200), Richard Houser (shot put), Zander Bauer (discus), Joseph Roth (javelin) and Brayden Lutz (triple jump).
