Local Roundup: results from April 26

Pleasant Valley picked up a pair of softball wins on Tuesday. The Bears also recorded wins in baseball and girls lacrosse.

Elsewhere, Northern Lehigh’s softball team posted a victory.

SOFTBALL

Pleasant Vy.-ES North

Pleasant Valley swept a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg North in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Lydia Borger homered and knocked in five runs in the Bears’ 19-4 victory in Game 1. Brianca Pridham and Danica Getz both went 4-for-5 at the plate for PV (6-7), with Getz also stealing two bases. Pridham also had four RBI in the games, while Getz knocked in two runs.

Sam Ratti registered two RBIs, while Hailey Krock and Eve Kratzer each had multi-hit games in the first game of the doubleheader.

In Game 2, Emilee Roberti hit a grand slam in an explosive 11-run third inning, leading to a 19-4 Pleasant Valley win to complete the sweep. Sam Ratti also homered for the Bears, while Eve Kratzer and Jovie Valenzuela also knocked in runs.

Jordyn Hemingway had a multi-homer game and four hits in Northern Lehigh’s 10-5 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.

Cadence Peters also homered for the Bulldogs (7-5), and had a perfect day at the plate with three hits. Hayley Thoder and Skyelar Horack each recorded two hits in the win, while Haylie Fenstermaker also collected a hit.

Kendall Heiney was solid in the circle, striking out 12.

BASEBALL

Pleasant Vy.-ES North

Dominc Payan threw a one-hit shutout in a 15-0 Pleasant Valley rout of East Stroudsburg North in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.

Payan struck out five in the three-inning victory. Shane Knappenberger and Rylan Adamski each had multi-hit games for the Bears (11-4), while Knappenberger also knocked in two runs.

Anden Bordick, Gabe Starnadori and Blake Walters all had a hit and an RBI in the victory.

Tamaqua-Tri-Valley

Tamaqua stayed within reach of a win until the sixth inning when Tri-Valley used a four-run surge to pull away for a 7-1 win.

Kameron Wetzel started the productive bottom of the sixth with an RBI single, but then the Bulldogs (9-1 overall) took advantage of walks to push across three more runs. Wetzel led the Bulldogs with two singles, two runs scored, a walk and an RBI, while Devin Wentz recorded two singles, two runs scored and a walk.

The Blue Raiders (1-10) made it a 1-1 game in the top of the second when Ryan Vecolitis delivered an RBI single to score Thomas Case, who reached on an error. Lucas Kamant, the Raiders’ leadoff hitter, ended up with a single and a double.

Palisades-No. Lehigh

Palisades rolled past Northern Lehigh 23-3 in Colonial League action.

Kyle McGrath hit two home runs, including a grand slam for the Pirates. Joshua Alkhas and Nick Petrillo also homered in the win.

Tyler Fenstermaker hit a two-run homer in the second inning to get Northern Lehigh (1-12) on the board. Reese Lipsky also had an RBI double for the Bulldogs. Jack Tosh, Lawson Hoffman and Connor Simms also had hits in the loss.

Pleasant Valley-Moravian Academy

Brielle McInaw recorded six goals and an assist in Pleasant Valley’s 20-2 victory over Moravian Academy.

Alexandra Bush added five goals for the Bears, while Devon Bush scored two.

Pleasant Valley improves to 9-3 overall, while Moravian Academy falls to 5-6.

Seven goals from Angelo Luzzetti highlighted Moravian Academy’s 14-6 win over Pleasant Valley.

Gavin Gibbs added five goals and three assists for the Lions (6-4),
