Carbon County’s multi-parking lot paving project has begun.
On Tuesday, Mauch Chunk Lake Park announced that the paving project at the lake was beginning and would conclude around May 2.
“There will be days when certain areas of the park will be closed off to visitors,” staff posted on the lake’s Facebook page. “We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may create. All good things take time and patience, and once completed we will have nice new roads and parking lots.”
If a visitor has questions, they can call the park office at 570-325-3669.
Carbon County Commissioners awarded a nearly $900,000 contract to Graver Industries Inc., doing business as Barker & Barker Paving, of Bethlehem, to pave multiple lots owned by the county.
These include the lots at Mauch Chunk Lake Park, the correctional facility and portions of the county parking lot and D&L Trail in the lot.
Graver Industries bid $876,386.32, the lowest of six bids that were received.
