A Carbon County resident reported an extortion attempt.

State police at Fogelsville said on April 7 at 12:19 p.m. a 37-year-old woman from Lehighton reported she received messages demanding $10,000 to prevent intimate photos of her from being posted on a social media platform. The victim refused to send any money and notified police.

The investigation into the incident is continuing.
