BARC sponsors community yard sale

The Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected is expecting over 40 households to participate in their annual community yard sale on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Maps of all registered sellers will be distributed at several locations. “BARC homes” at 422 Ore St. and 509 White St. will be selling perennials and Gertrude Hawk candy bars. A 50/50 raffle will be held with all proceeds going toward their mural project.

Emmanuel UCC Church, 509 Hamilton St., will be hosting a basket social and selling hot dogs. Trinity Lutheran Evangelical Church, 500 Ore St., will be selling hamburger barbecue sandwiches. Pierogies are being sold at 422 Hamilton St. (in the garage) to benefit Faith Alive Church, and don’t forget a few extra bucks to support the Bowmanstown Area Fire Company in their boot drop as you come into town.

“It’s always great to get out for this event and see familiar faces again. For us, it’s the sign of spring, cleaning out the old, and making space for the new” said Kara Scott, BARC president.

Rodney Reeser, BARC vice president, agreed and said, “We are looking forward to another fun and exciting day to enjoy the spring weather and hunt for great bargains. It’s a great way to build our community.”

BARC is again proud to partner with the Green Drop, which will pick up donations after the sale at 2 p.m. from residents willing to donate what they do not sell.

Donations will benefit the Military Order of the Purple Heart, a congressionally chartered veterans organization made up of combat-wounded veterans who provide valuable resources, programs and support dedicated to helping all veterans and their families. MOPH relies on financial, household and car donations to fund MOPH programs and services for military veterans and their families. Residents must be present to load donations on the truck.
