Community supper

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, has a community, drive-in supper on its calendar for 5 p.m. today.

Meeting tonight

The Chestnuthill Township Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Park Building on Route 715 in Brodheadsville.

Veterans Memorial

Polk Township’s Veterans Memorial Commission has its next meeting on the calendar for 6 p.m. today.

Post-Easter service

Effort UMC will hold a post Easter final Lenten service at 7 p.m. today. It begins with worship, followed by discussion, all taking place in the sanctuary.

Pantry needs

Effort UMC’s Supplemental Food Resource Center is collecting donations of pie crusts, pie filling, canned vegetables, cereal, peanut butter, jelly or jams.

League meeting

The West End Little League will hold its open meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chestnuthill Township Park in Brodheadsville.

Spring cleanup

Eldred Township has announced its spring cleanup days for its residents for this Friday and Saturday.

Residents can bring to the township building, around the back, any items that they cannot dispose of in the normal trash such as old furniture, grills and any miscellaneous trash.

Tires are being collected with a small fee for car tires, more for truck tires and some more for large truck tires.

Electronic recycling will also begin on those days, including computers, TVs and computer components which will go to recycling.

Anyone having metal scrap is asked to keep it separate as the township sends that to recycling.

Friday hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Saturday hours are from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

PM workers will be on hand to help unload.

No appointments are needed.

Friday bingo

The West End Park and Open Space Commission will host bingo at the Chestnuthill Park this Friday, due to last week’s holiday. Doors open at 6 p.m. Games begin at 6:30 p.m.

PVEN event

An outdoor flea market and craft fair, in cooperation with and at Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church, has been set by the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network for Saturday at the church. It will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Vendors are being sought.

Garden cleanup

The Garden of Giving continues with its cleanup operations from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. the next two Saturdays. For signing up or other information, call 570-402-1282.

Effort Pantry

The Effort UMC food pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Earth Day event

Monroe County Conservation District and Monroe Campus Northampton Community College in Tannersville have announced a 2022 Earth Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Organizations, businesses and local agencies throughout Monroe County have organized a countywide event to celebrate the conservation successes of the past 20-plus years in Monroe County.

The day includes musical entertainment featuring Scotty Crosby, Starboard Sparrows, Earth Song and The Lost Ramblers.

There will also be children’s activities and tire amnesty sponsored by the Waste Management Authority, speakers and exhibits highlighting local environmental business, organizations and agencies.

Admission is free.

Special music

Adult & Teen Challenge of Rehrersburg, Berks County, will bring music and testimony into the sanctuary of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. this Sunday.

A faith-based treatment program, Adult & Teen Challenge focuses on detox as inpatient or outpatient, through their plans of action and mentoring.

All are invited to hear the witness of overcomers and their beautiful choir. St. Peter’s UMC is located at 924 Route 115, Saylorsburg. The worship service will be livestreamed using https://facebook.com/petersumc.saylorsburg.

Sunday supper

Our Lady Queen on Peace Church, Brodheadsville, is slated to have a community Sunday supper from 3 to 4 p.m. this Sunday.

Reconciliation time

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold a Divine Mercy Sunday Eucharistic Holy Hour at 5 p.m. this Sunday. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be available throughout the hour.
