Local Roundup: Results from April 19

The Lehighton softball team and Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse team each picked up victories on Tuesday.

BASEBALL

Pleasant Vy.-Emmaus

Emmaus rolled to a 13-2 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.

Luke Deschenes hit two home runs, including a first-inning grand slam, for the unbeaten Hornets (11-0).

For Pleasant Valley (8-3), Nathan Loch had a pair of hits and also stole two bases, while Dominic Payan had one hit and stole two bases. Andrew Meitzler, Jack Smale and Ryan Kyme both chipped in one hit, while Ben Mostosky added an RBI for the Bears.

SOFTBALL

Lehighton-Pine Grove

Maggie Pagotto and Addison Chavanic each hit RBI-doubles as Lehighton beat Pine Grove, 7-4, in Schuylkill League action.

Chavanic and Cheyenne Whitman both had multi-hit games for the Indians (3-5), while Anna Laible, Pagotto, Brielle Frable and Abbie Miller all scored runs.

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Marla Friewald knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Blue Mountain edged Tamaqua, 2-1, in Schuylkill League play.

Hailey Williams went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Tamaqua (1-7).

Bryn Clifford pitched well in defeat for the Raiders, allowing just six hits and two runs in eight innings, while striking out 10.

Panther Valley-Mahanoy Area

Mahanoy Area walked away with a 5-3 Schuylkill League win over Panther Valley in a game that was cut short due to Monday’s inclement weather.

Brenna Beschock (single, double, run scored, RBI); Mikayla Yuricheck (double, two runs scored); and Kyla McQuillen (two singles) had strong games for the Panthers (0-7, 0-3).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Pleasant Vy.-Nazareth

Pleasant Valley cruised to a 16-8 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Nazareth.

Brielle McInaw scored five goals for the Bears, while Emily Butler and Alexandra Bush each added three goals apiece. Riley Green and Keylee Dugey both tallied two goals, while Devon Bush added a single score as Pleasant Valley improved to 7-3 on the season.

TENNIS

Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.

Stroudsburg capped its regular season with a 5-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

The Bears, who end the season with a 4-14 overall record, got a victory at No. 3 singles from Donovan Rizvic.

The No. 1 doubles match was not played due to the weather.

The Mounties improved their record to 11-5.
