Weatherly man charged with rape of child

A Weatherly man has been charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Sofia Mantz of the Weatherly Police Department in the case against Paul Heinsinger:

At 11:57 p.m. March 25, Weatherly Borough Police were dispatched to a home in the 900 block of North Street for an incident involving a man threatening to kill himself, later identified as Heinsinger, 41.

Heinsinger’s wife told police a 13-year-old girl was being sexually touched by Heinsinger.

The next day, Heinsinger’s wife came to the Weatherly Police Station and said Heinsinger threatened the teenage girl that he would share a video she made if she didn’t show him her bare chest.

Heinsinger’s wife texted him on his phone about the assault and he first denied it and then admitted it.

Officers applied for a search warrant on Heinsinger’s mobile device, for the contents and text messages on it.

The mobile device showed screenshots of photos from the victim’s video of her as well as text messages from Heinsinger to his wife stating he messed up and he was sorry.

During an interview with the Scranton Child and Youth Advocacy Center in Scranton, the victim said he also touched her inappropriately.

During the forensic interview, the victim stated that Heinsinger had an app on his phone that showed him the video she took of her doing “inappropriate things.”

Heinsinger faces charges of rape of child; statutory sexual assault; unlawful contact with minor; produce/present/direct obscene performance; Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a person less than 16 years of age; corruption of minors; and sexual extortion.

He is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility, with request for bail denied, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 20 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
