Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners discussed the following items during their meeting last week.

• Accepted the resignation of James G. Logue Jr. as Carbon County’s representative for the America250PA program, effective April 4, and appointed Sara Ruch of Summit Hill to fill the vacancy, effective April 7.

• Approve a court interpreter services grant application for language access reimbursable costs incurred during 2021. The total cost is $7,891.09.

• Approved 24 change orders to the contract with Uhrig Construction Inc. of Reading for the 44/76 Susquehanna St. buildings. The cost for the change orders is $40,857.07, bringing the new contract total to $2,435,857.17.

• Adopted a resolution acknowledging the Carbon County 2021 Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan covers a number of possible scenarios that may happen in the county and procedures on how to handle such emergencies that occur.

• Approved a memorandum of understanding with Jim Thorpe borough to identify the duties each entity will be responsible for when utilizing PA Small Water and Sewer Grant funds for borough projects in conjunction with the Community Development Block Grant projects. The purpose is to address projects that may utilize both funds, as well as borough funds.

Personnel

• Hire as recommended by department supervisor: Danielle Keith-Alexandre of Lehighton, county caseworker II, Children and Youth, effective April 11.

• Change of status: Robert S. Frycklund of Lehighton, from part-time assistant district attorney 2 and solicitor for tax assessment and tax claim to county solicitor, effective April 16.

• Acknowledgment: Change of status, Jennifer L. Rapa of Andreas, from part-time assistant district attorney 3 to part-time assistant district attorney 2, effective April 16.
