Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown) holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin Jr. Palm Sunday at 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person in the sanctuary or Leah’s Room or in the parking lot by turning the radio to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Worship schedule for Easter:

April 13 is Community Lenten Service at Emmanuel UCC in Bowmanstown at 7 p.m.

April 14 is Maundy Thursday at 7 p.m.

April 15 is Community Good Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowmanstown at 7 p.m.

April 17 is Resurrection Sunday at 6:30 a.m. at the church pavilion and Easter Service at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Other events for April:

April 21 at 2 p.m. is adult Bible study

April 10 at 5:30 p.m. is Kids Easter Party and 6:30 p.m. is Youth Group Easter Party.

April 11 at 7 p.m. is church council meeting

April 23 at 10:30 a.m. is Spring Ladies Luncheon with speaker Pastor Bev Fekula

April 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. is Hope For The Journey Conference.

Three missions for April:

“Red Bird Mission” was founded in 1921 in the southeastern corner of Kentucky to provide education and Christian evangelism to residents of the area.

“Micah’s Backpack Program” was formed to help needy students in the Palmerton Area School District with after school meals.

“ABC Food Pantry” is available for those in need in the community and within our church family.

Good Friday fish fry

A Good Friday fish fry dinner will be held at the Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company on April 15 from 3-7 p.m. It will be a drive-thru event again this year. Pre-sale tickets are necessary. To purchase tickets see a member, call 610-826-2066, visit George’s P&H Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or visit the fire station Fridays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sundays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Mondays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Basket raffle

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road will be hosting a basket raffle to benefit the fire company on April 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. and April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A live drawing of the winning tickets will be on Facebook at 4 p.m.

On April 29 from 2 to 7 p.m. Vince’s Cheesesteaks will be set up at the fire company.

On April 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. KCL Krazy Chicken Lady will be set up at the fire company.

Library

A bookmark contest is being held for preschool through sixth grade. Winning designs in each group will be printed as bookmarks and distributed by the library. Entry forms are due by April 20. Winners will be announced April 22. One entry per child. Stop by the library to pick up a form.

During the month of April a CACPAC food drive will be held at the library. Help fill the shopping cart with nonperishable food items to support our local food pantry. Donations can be dropped off during regular library hours for the month of April.

Egg hunts

An Easter egg hunt will be held at the Palmerton Memorial Park Grove, 1255 N. Third St. on Saturday at 11 a.m. For ages 0-10.

An Easter egg hunt will also be held in the Palmerton Borough Park on Saturday at 1 p.m. For ages 1-12.

Food pantry

The CACPAC sponsored Palmerton Food Pantry will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton, on April 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The pantry supports residents of the Palmerton Area School District only and you will need to show proof of residency and answer questions regarding your income.

This is a drive-thru event, so please remain in your vehicle and follow instructions given by volunteers. If you are unable to attend, someone may pick up for you.

The pantry is always in need of nonperishable food items, paper and personal care items. Donations may be dropped off at 459 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. A box is in the front porch for your donations. Local churches also collect on a regular basis.

Council meetings

The regular meetings of the Palmerton Borough Council during April are April 14 and 28. Meetings will be held at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall Council Chambers, 443 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

JUCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton, will have Palm Sunday services at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. You can also remain in your vehicle in the parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 FM or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after it has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle leads worship.

Sunday school is in-person each week during the 10 a.m. service and will continue to follow local protocol for COVID safety.

Nursery care is also available during the service.

Maundy Thursday, worship will be at 7 p.m. Good Friday worship will be at 7 p.m.

‘Fiddler on the Roof’

The Palmerton Area Drama Club will present “Fiddler on the Roof” in the Palmerton Area High School Auditorium on April 28, 29 and 30. Doors open at 6 p.m. and curtain is at 7 p.m.

‘Bow the Knee’

Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton, will present “Bow the Knee” an Easter musical on April 15 at 7 p.m.
