Chestnuthill discusses dissolution of WEPOSC

The dissolution of West End Park and Open Space Commission was the hot topic of the Tuesday night Chestnuthill Township Supervisors’ meeting.

Chairman Chuck Gould advised the supervisors the commission sent them a letter of request for the two townships to dissolve the WEPOSC. On Monday night Ross Township voted to dissolve the agreement.

“They voted they would be agreeable to dissolve under two conditions. The first condition being Chestnuthill and Pleasant Valley School District agreeing to it, and the second condition was that as long as the distribution funds are in accordance with what was circulated,” said Chestnuthill Township solicitor Tim McManus.

He said he had informed Ross Township on Monday night that it would be the next step of the process.

“I said that really what they were authorizing is so that the other parties would know if they were agreeable to mutually work on the agreement. That the way it would be if everybody is on board on Thursday night that what would happen is we would do just another short intergovernmental agreement saying that it has been dissolved, and that Ross Township and Chestnuthill Township deal with that,” McManus said.

A motion was made and passed for McManus to prepare an agreement for governmental disclosure.

Gould brought up the topic of the Friends of WEPOSC and how the group should be dismantled.

“Because it was created to serve, so it should be dissolved or reformulated or whatever you call it before the WEPOSC is dissolved.”

No suggestions were made and McManus is going to look into what should be done.
