The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that Savon Bagby, 25, an inmate at the Schuylkill Federal Correctional Institution, was sentenced on March 31 to a year in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani for possession of a weapon.

According to U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus, Bagby was serving a sentence at FCI Schuylkill for a racketeering conspiracy when he was found to be in possession of two 5-inch metal rods sharpened to a point, commonly referred to as “shanks.”

Bagby’s sentence will be served consecutively to his previous conviction.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant U.S. Attorney Todd K. Hinkley prosecuted the case.
