Carbon County court — DUI

Defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas on Friday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:

Bonnie A. Hardy, 56, of Bowmanstown, pleaded in two pending cases. She was arrested on March 14 by Lehighton police and May 6 by state police at Lehighton. In both cases for DUI of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so she can apply for the house arrest program and also get a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.

Hayley Rene Leverone,William Paul Kintz, 25, of Lehighton, was arrested on Oct. 6, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Michael J. Dulina, 40, of Weatherly, was arrested on Aug. 1, 2021, by Weatherly police for DUI of alcohol. He also pleaded to one count of recklessly endangering another person for an incident on July 17, 2021, also filed by Weatherly police. In that case the district attorney’s office dropped a felony 3 count of fleeing or attempting to elude police.

Sentencing was deferred so he can apply for the house arrest program.

Dakota John Woodard, 25, of Blakeslee, was arrested on June 3, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge for DUI of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Jimmy Cruz, 43, of Lansford, was arrested on Sept. 28, 2021, by Lehighton police for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin serving the prison term at 9 a.m. on April 7.

Jake A. Shellenberger, 36, of Lehighton, was arrested on Nov. 3, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He began serving the jail term immediately.

Cameron Lee Mooney, 34, of Lehighton, was arrested on May 8, 2021, by state police at Lehighton, for DUI of a controlled substance.

He also pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, for an incident on Dec. 12, 2020, filed by state police at Lehighton, and to a count of driving while operating privileges suspended or revoked for an incident on April 6, 2021, also filed by state police at Lehighton. In that case a DUI charge was dropped in a plea deal.

Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. The adult probation office was also ordered to prepare a presentence investigation report.

James A. Hoffman, 69, of Palmerton, was arrested on April 10, 2021, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of alcohol.

He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, pay a fine of $300, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He will begin serving the prison term at 3 p.m. on April 8 and serve it on consecutive weekends of two days, two days and one day.

Jennifer Lynn Billings, 47, of Tamaqua, was arrested on Dec. 30, 2020, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

Sentencing was deferred so she can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation and apply for the house arrest program.

Eugene David Dacey, 46, of Nesquehoning, was arrested on May 7, 2021, by Nesquehoning for DUI of alcohol.

Sentencing was deferred so he can apply for the house arrest program.

Sentencings

The following defendants previously entered guilty pleas to DUI charges and were sentenced.

Kendall Lillian Eckhart, 27, of Slatedale, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

She was arrested on Dec. 22, 2020, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance.

She is currently serving another prison term in another county.

Rebecca L. Calmona,Harold McFarland Jr., 58, of Bowmanstown, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service. On a charge of driving under suspension, he was fined $1,000 and costs.

He arrested on Sept. 5, 2020, by state police at Lehighton for DUI of a controlled substance along Keystone Alley in Lehighton.

He will begin serving the prison term at 9 a.m. on April 10.

Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of over $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
