Art exhibit opens in Schuylkill Haven

The 6th Annual Keystone Fine Art Juried Exhibition opened on Friday at the Walk In Art Center, 200 Parkway in Schuylkill Haven.

People can view the show until the closing ceremony on April 16. There will be complimentary refreshments, live music, and award presentations for the winners of the exhibition.

“We have added a few new elements to the exhibition,” says Jacqueline Engel, the WIAC’s Executive Director. “Visitors can vote for their favorite and the piece will win the new People’s Choice Award.

“We have also added a Sculpture category this year which is a category we’d love to see grow over the next few years.”

Works in six categories will receive $200 for first place and $100 for second, she says.

“It really is a great opportunity for an artist to have their work seen.”

Jason Travers, professor of art at Lehigh University, served as juror for the exhibition.

Winners of the exhibition will be announced at the Awards Reception, which starts at 1 p.m. on April 16 with refreshments and live music from Steve Mazur.

The exhibit can be viewed weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. through April 16.
