Two are facing DUI charges in Monroe

A 31-year-old Stroudsburg man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a traffic stop made by state police at the Stroudsburg barracks at 1:23 a.m. March 18.

Police said they stopped a 2011 Nissan Juke for Motor Vehicle Code violations at the intersection of Brick Church Road and Seip Lane in Hamilton Township, after which time they determined the driver was under the influence. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a glass smoking device with drug residue on it.

The man was transported to the Monroe County DUI Center, where he refused to submit to a blood test.

In a second stop made by police due to Motor Vehicle Code violations, a 47-year-old East Stroudsburg man taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.

His 2022 Honda Civic was stopped at 12:06 a.m. March 19 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township. Police said he was taken into custody and transported to the county’s DUI center, where he submitted to a blood draw.
