Retirement celebration to be held for retired Sgt. Maj. of the Army Dailey

A retirement celebration will be held for a highly decorated Palmerton native.

The event is in honor of retired Sgt. Maj. of the Army Daniel A. Dailey.

It will take place from 2-6 p.m. May 14 at Woodstone Country Club in Danielsville.

Dailey served as 15th Sergeant Major of the Army from Jan. 30, 2015, to Aug. 9, 2019.

He was the youngest to serve in that position, according to Daniel A. Dailey Retirement Celebration Committee member Richard Nothstein.

Nothstein is joined on the committee by Darlene Nothstein, Chris and Sue Olivia, Marj and Joe Federanich, Kathy Fallow, and Ed Moyer.

He said the retirement celebration is a way for residents of the borough to express their thanks to Dailey for his service to our country.

“It’s an opportunity for the people of Palmerton to show their love and support and gratitude for his service,” Nothstein said.

Dailey enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1989 and attended basic training and advanced individual training as an 11B (infantryman) at Fort Benning, Georgia. During his career, he held every enlisted leadership position in the mechanized infantry, ranging from Bradley Fighting Vehicle commander to command sergeant major.

In January 2020, he joined the executive team at the Association of the U.S. Army, where he serves as vice president of Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier Programs.

Anyone who would like to attend should RSVP Nothstein at 610-826-7339 by April 23.
