Two events

Effort UMC will be a busy place April 9.

From 10 a.m. to noon the food pantry will be open and later, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., there will be a spaghetti dinner benefiting austinsblueline.org.

Corrected date

The West End Park & Open Space Commission has corrected its event dates.

The free dog training session with University Pets will be held at the West End Regional Park beginning at 11 a.m. April 9, while the Craft and Gift Fair will be held at the Chestnuthill Park on Route 715 beginning 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food will be available for a cost.

Jewish Seder set

At 6 p.m. April 10, a modern Jewish Seder will be led by Rabbi Larry Kaplan at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville.

A full meal (chicken) will be served along with the traditional ritual of the Jewish Passover Seder.

Rabbi Kaplan serves as the spiritual leader of Temple Israel in Wilkes-Barre and has taught Jewish History at Wyoming Seminary and Old Testament at Kings College. He is also the Jewish Chaplain at the Wilkes-Barre VA Hospital and Dallas State Correctional Institution and is an instructor for the Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program there.

A donation will help to defray the cost of the meal. Call the church office at 610-681-6137 to make a reservation.

PVEN event

An outdoor flea market and craft fair, in cooperation with and at Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church has been set by the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network for April 23 at the church. It will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vendors are being sought.
